When I first entered through the doors leading to the convention where the bridal show is being held, I feel the air being sucked right out of me. There was a huge gathering studded with different vendors showcasing the items and services required for organizing a wedding. A diverse variety of designers for wedding dresses, caterers, florists, travel agents and professional photographers were present to exhibit their capabilities. One such vendor that is an essential ingredient to any good bridal show is the disc jockey. I had been informed that there are about thirty DJs performing at the bridal show, which was the sole reason I had decided to attend. I wished to hire a DJ for my own wedding scheduled for the end of the year.

The bridal show included a formal fashion show where models and a few of the guests were required to walk the ramp and display the clothes. It was at this moment that the DJs displayed their proficiency at playing background music, sometime firing up the tempo, and sometimes lulling it down, to keep the audience engaged. They were capable of playing great music that could be tailored according to the type of event you want to host. Once the fashion show ended, we were allowed to talk to the DJs on a one to one basis. This was a good opportunity to get to know the DJs personally and look into what kinds of specialization they offer and the equipment they employ. Signing a contract over the phone or online website may lead to a misunderstanding later on, thus, there is no alternative to face to face communication.  Probably the biggest advantage of bridal shows held at convention centers is that it means you get to meet the most select and choicest of DJs to manage the music systems. We can ask them if they have business licenses, liability insurances, or proof of a good track record to ensure that they have had experience before. These DJs are often willing to make adjustments to the packages they offer.

However a great deal of care has to be taken when deciding what bridal shows to attend. Often part-time DJs present at small scale bridal shows are successful in passing themselves off as full-time DJs and charge a very small fee in order to woo in clients. These DJs are usually people to want to make some extra money in their spare time. On numerous occasions, they do not follow guidelines and instructions such as dress codes and time schedules. The customers are fooled into believing that they are sealing a good deal, and end up disappointed at their own hosted event.  Another disadvantage is that bridal shows frequently charge an entrance fee, which makes the hiring of a perfect DJ all the more costly.

In the end, it all depends on how well you have researched before hand, and what kind of bridal show you decide to hire a DJ from. A reputable bridal show will ensure a large range of DJs to choose from, tailored to suit your needs.
